Ciberterrorismo. Una amenaza a través de la red

RESUMEN:

El presente trabajo trata de establecer una visión sobre el ciberterrorismo y sus posibilidades en general y respecto al recorrido a través de la red de la organización terrorista conocida como DAESH, en particular. El término «terrorismo» ha sido ya de por sí un término bastante difícil de definir, a lo que se le añade en pleno siglo XXI su faceta informática y digital, dificultando aún más la tarea. El ciberterrorismo parece, todavía a día de hoy, algo propio de las películas de ciencia ficción, pero nada más lejos de la realidad. Algunos grupos e individuos han conseguido a través, o con la ayuda de la red, realizar diversos ataques sofisticados a objetivos de toda índole. El ciberespacio brinda, entre otras cosas, un gran escaparate para bandas criminales y organizaciones terroristas donde mostrarse a un gran público, un inmenso mercado de abastecimiento y una red para atraer candidatos usando todas las estrategias más actuales e innovadoras de publicidad y marketing. Sin embargo, no está todo perdido y ya existen numerosas estrategias para hacer frente a este nuevo terrorismo digital del siglo XXI, tanto físicas como cibernéticas, pero siempre desde una óptica holística y multifactorial donde el criminólogo es una figura determinante en la adopción de las mismas. Debemos preguntarnos en qué punto nos encontramos en la lucha contra el terrorismo y en qué dirección queremos seguir. Por ello, en el presente trabajo se trata de establecer una definición del término «terrorismo» y «ciberterrorismo», enumerar los actos más relevantes realizados a través de la red, explicar las dificultades que encuentran las organizaciones terroristas para hacerse más fuertes en el ciberespacio así como exponer un conjunto de posibles medidas para hacer frente a esta nueva forma de difundir el terror.

ABSTRACT:

The present work tries to establish a vision about cyberterrorism and its possibilities in general and its relation with the network of the terrorist organization known as DAESH, in particular. The term «terrorism» has been a very difficult concept to define, to which computing and digital elements must be added that have been developed and applied to it in the 21st Century. Cyberterrorism seems, until this day, something typical of science fiction films, but nothing is further from the truth. Some groups and individuals have achieved through, or with the help of the internet, to perform various sophisticated attacks on targets of all kinds. Cyberspace provides, among other things, a great showcase for criminal gangs and terrorist organizations, where you can find a large audience, a huge supply market and a network to attract users who use all the latest and most innovative advertising and marketing strategies. However, not all hope is gone and there are already a large number of strategies to deal with this new digital terrorism of the 21st Century, both physical and cybernetic, but always from a holistic and multifactorial perspective where the criminologist is a decisive figure in their adoption. We must ask ourselves at what point we are in the fight against terrorism and what direction we want to continue towards. Therefore, in this paper we try to establish a definition of the term «terrorism» and «cyberterrorism», to list the most relevant acts carried out through the Internet, to explain the difficulties that the terrorist organizations find in order to become stronger in the cyberspace as well as to expose a set of possible measures to face this new way of spreading terror.
